This pop-up altered gate fold book features the image of a figure soaring through the clouds over a large canyon. I created this image while visiting Yellowstone National Park the last two summers.
The red rugged cliffs of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and the blue green of the Yellowstone River have been inspirational to many who visit this United States National Park. For me the image celebrates all the opportunities that are possible when you let go of fears and regrets. The image is a digital pigment print from a digital collage I did incorporating maps and brochures of the park, a sketchbook watercolor drawing and photographs I took of the Yellowstone River.
The poem I wrote inside reads: Flight – Jump high into the air – Open your arms and catch the breeze in your soul – Let your doubts flap in the wind singing of your freedom – Like the frame of a kite, your limbs arch out, strong and flexible, riding over the vast chasm.
